Meeting Descriptions
How the meeting agent generates titles and descriptions for calendar invites.
The meeting agent automatically creates AI-generated meeting titles and descriptions by analyzing the email conversation. This page explains how titles and descriptions are generated and how to customize them.
How descriptions are created
Section titled “How descriptions are created”The meeting agent deduces the title and description from your email thread. It looks at multiple sources in order of priority:
- Stored thread context — Previous messages and discussion points
- Raw email content — The current message body and subject
- Conversation history — Back-and-forth with the assistant
Pre-existing context
Section titled “Pre-existing context”If an email thread has history before the assistant was added, it extracts relevant context:
Example: You CC the assistant on an email chain that’s been discussing a product launch. The assistant reads the prior messages and creates a description mentioning the launch discussion.
This means you don’t lose context when bringing the assistant into an existing conversation.
Good vs generic descriptions
Section titled “Good vs generic descriptions”The assistant aims for informative descriptions rather than placeholder text.
Good descriptions include:
- Discussion topics from the email
- Goals mentioned in the thread
- Relevant context for participants
- Action items to cover
Generic descriptions are avoided:
- “Meeting to discuss”
- “Sync up”
- “Touch base”
- Empty descriptions
If there isn’t enough context for a meaningful description, the assistant creates a brief but accurate summary rather than filling space with generic text.
Examples
Section titled “Examples”| Email context | Generated description |
|---|---|
| ”Let’s discuss the Q4 budget and headcount planning” | Topics: - Q4 budget review - Headcount planning |
| ”Following up on our product launch timeline” | Discussion of product launch timeline based on prior email thread |
| ”Quick sync about the project” | Project sync meeting |
Updating descriptions
Section titled “Updating descriptions”You can ask the assistant to modify the description before or after booking:
Before booking:
“Can you add ‘Review analytics dashboard’ to the agenda?”
After booking:
“Please update the meeting description to include the new product demo”
The assistant will update the calendar event accordingly.
Tips for better descriptions
Section titled “Tips for better descriptions”- Be specific in your email — The more context you provide, the better the description
- Mention key topics — “We need to cover X, Y, and Z” translates directly
- Include goals — “Goal is to finalize the budget” becomes part of the agenda
- Reference documents — Links or file names can be included in the description
Turning off AI content on calendar invites
Section titled “Turning off AI content on calendar invites”If you’d rather not have AI-generated titles or descriptions on your invites, you can turn off SkipUp’s AI-generated invite content. New invites will go out without an AI-generated title or description; you can still ask the meeting agent to update either one after the invite has been sent.
Per-member setting
Open User Preferences in the SkipUp app, find the Scheduling section, and turn off Add AI content to calendar invites. Future calendar invites you send through SkipUp will go out without an AI-generated title or description until you turn it back on.
Workspace-wide setting (admins)
Workspace admins can turn off AI content on calendar invites for everyone in Workspace Settings → General. When the workspace setting is off, individual members cannot opt back in — the per-member toggle is locked.
The setting applies to new meeting invites only. Calendar invites already sent are not affected. To clear the description on an already-booked meeting, reply to the meeting agent and ask it to remove the description from that meeting.
